MISSION
The Centre for Police Research and Development (CPRD) was created in 2002 so as to provide services for diagnosing, planning and the carrying out of actions that have a direct impact on the modernization of the police, in line with the Investigative Police of Chile. Its fundamental purpose is to promote and develop studies that are orientated at generating, accumulating and systematizing newly acquired knowledge for its putting into practice with the aim of acquiring an efficient police management and one that is of good quality, as well as the validation and socialization of good police practices for the security of citizens and the community in general.
OBJECTIVES
CPRD's main objective is to generate knowledge and capability in substantive areas in the field of investigations, formation and diffusion and perfecting the area of social police management, through the development of research, teaching and the offering of services and consultantship; the gathering and analysis of information on security and police functioning; the planning and carrying out of training to capacitate on the processes of organizational development of the police on a focalized or large scale; and the edition and diffusion of printed and virtual publications on topics related to the aforementioned areas.
CPRD is a consultant body and is also a reference for material on modernization, management and the development of the Investigative police working as: executer of scientific investigations in the field of the social sciences and areas of knowledge related to the work carried out by the Investigative Police of Chile; a link between national and international institutions in the area of interdisciplinary investigation in the socio-police field; promoter of reflection and academic exchange through the development of seminars, round tables, panels and conferences on police work, peoples security, prevention and control of criminality in society.
